Founded in 2021, NoPalm Ingredients is on a mission to challenge companies and product manufacturers to implement our local, circular, and sustainable oils as an alternative to palm oil.  

By upcycling agri-food side streams into circular yeast oils, we are making a worldwide environmental impact, contributing to a waste-free world, decarbonizing the entire value chain with 90% less greenhouse gases emissions, and limiting the impact on natural habitats as we reduce land-use by 99%.

Cut down food waste and limit the negative effects of palm oil

The facts

Palm oil is a great ingredient that is widely used due to its versatility and affordability. We each consume, on average, 8 kilograms of palm oil every year. Approximately 50% of all packaged products we buy are made of palm oil. It’s in our food, clothes, and detergents.

Next to that, between 30% and 40% of all our food remains unconsumed, therefore wasted.

The problem

The demand for palm oil is growing by 4% every year, whilst the available RSPO palm oil supply only covers 19% of that demand today. RSPO palm oil can’t keep up with that growth. An alternative is needed that replaces palm oil without future deforestation.

Even more concerning, food waste contributes up to 8 to 10% of global greenhouse gases emissions, which is bigger than aviation and shipping combined.

The solution

We solve both the food waste and palm oil issues with one solution: Our yeast oils that are as versatile and as affordable as palm oil.

Compared to all vegetable oils, our alternatives have a great impact on the value chain decarbonization with a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 90%; Moreover they limit the impact on natural habitats with 99% less land-use and contribute to reduce food waste.

Our Technology

During our process of creating yeast oils & fats, we use agri-food waste streams, such as potato peels, rejected vegetables or any other biomass that contains either sugar, fatty acids, or alcohols, as our raw material input.

The biomass is then crushed/shredded to ferment it with specific yeast. Following the fermentation process, we separate the yeast oils/fats produced from the biomass.

The yeast oils & fats we sell to companies are used either as a pure or fraction replacement in food, cosmetics and home care products. The left biomass is brought back into the value chain and used by other partners to valorize.
